Faith about her Christmas traditions

This is an article that Faith wrote about Christmas. I really enjoy Faith’s style of writing. I would love it if she would write articles more often!

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year: the decorations, the smells, the food, the family — I love it all! Growing up, we played all the great Christmas albums around the house, from Eddy Arnold to Johnny Mathis to Nat King Cole. Personally, I couldn’t wait for the claymation shows to come on television like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty The Snowman. I knew when those shows were coming on, especially Rudolph, and I planned a week in advance for them. I got my homework done, had dinner, got my bath, and then I was in front of the TV watching Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, just like the year before and the year before that. It was tradition and to this day, I still love watching those shows — only now I watch them with my girls.

Christmas Means Family
Traditions run deep in my family, and Tim and I have our own traditions that we’ve started with our children. It starts with the decorating of the tree on our youngest daughter Audrey’s birthday, December 6. This is a family night, and we pull out all the ornaments the kids have made; they hang on the tree alongside ornaments that Tim and I have from our childhoods and ones we’ve bought over the years. We drink hot chocolate and play Christmas music; it’s the start of the Christmas season at our home.

And Elf Mischief!
The night we decorate the tree is also the night that the elves begin their nightly visits. Each of the girls has an elf doll that comes alive at night, and these elves are very mischievous. Each night the girls leave Saltines, water and a letter for each elf. The next morning, the elves have responded to their letters and have run rampant during the night, unrolling all the toilet paper in one of the bathrooms, getting into the freezer to get ice cream and leaving it out on the counter overnight — we never know what we are going to wake up to!

The Kitchen Comes Alive
During this season, we also do a lot of baking. We make cookies, cakes and holiday treats for friends and neighbors, and we go caroling. It’s a magical time of year.

On Christmas Eve, we continue a tradition that Tim grew up with. He makes homemade spaghetti and sauce; it’s an all-day affair. After dinner, everyone gets to open one present, which is always new Christmas pajamas to wear that night. We read the Christmas story from the Bible. Before we tuck the girls into bed, the girls leave special food for Santa’s reindeer and hope to hear his sleigh bells!

Christmas morning is a flurry of activity with the girls racing downstairs to see what Santa has brought. I love to see the excitement on the girls’ faces.

Looking Ahead
As January rolls around, we continue to be thankful for all that we have been blessed with and look forward to the New Year. I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

Faith doesn’t send Christmas cards

It’s the thought that counts, right? Faith Hill admits she always intends to send holiday cards, but she never actually gets around to putting stamps on them.

“I’ve not been so good the last couple of years,” the country superstar tells Dial-Global. “I actually buy the cards, but they’ve never made it out of my house. I’ve even addressed them and they’ve not made it out of my house. It’s horrible. Isn’t it awful? It’s just such a waste. So I have to go back and take the pictures out, then I’ve got a pile of pictures that I never send.”

At least she hasn’t been wasting her money on pricey professional photos for those never-seen cards. Hill says when it comes to the Hill-McGraw clan, they stick to family photographers.

“Our photograph is usually something that’s just candid,” she says. “We have never taken a family portrait together ever.”

Hill’s new single, ‘A Baby Changes Everything’ (from her ‘Joy to the World’ CD), has hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

New winter look!

As you can see I updated the headerimage of the site. I had another Christmas layout planned but I simply don’t have enough time to focus on that right now. I actually quite like how the layout looks righ now! I may still change the colors a bit because I don’t think they work with this header very well.

I updated the gallery with some new pics and I added some videos to the videovault.
Among the pics added to the gallery are the ones that Lee took and I promised to post in an earlier update post this week. She also took pics at the Today show rehearsal.

Taking on Faith: Coty Beauty Signs Hill to Scent Deal

The company’s Coty Beauty division told WWD Thursday that it has signed the country and pop superstar to do her own fragrance, which is expected to launch in late fall 2009 in mass distribution. Hill joins her husband, country star Tim McGraw, at Coty; McGraw’s eponymous men’s fragrance launched in late August.

In fact, part of Hill’s enthusiasm likely came from helping McGraw develop his fragrance. “My wife and I had a great time just sitting and going through things and working on what we liked the best,” McGraw told WWD in May. “She had a…

Today show review

A Faith fan named Lee won tickets for the Today show through this website. She sent me a review and some photos to post here. The photos will follow later because my computer is acting up.

Thanks Lee :)

Lee’s story:

Kirsten, the owner of this site StealingKisses made it possible for myself and many others to attend Faith’s Show on Today’s Concert Series. Thank you Kirsten and Julie at NBC.

Faith was her usual amazing self. She came out at 6:30 am, to rehearse in the freezing cold temperatures. We all patiently waited for her to come back out to sing her beautiful Christmas songs for the televised version. She was dressed so beautifully and sang like an angel. She sang 3 of her songs from her new Christmas CD “Joy to the World”. She sang the title song, Holly Jolly Christmas and Winter Wonderland. We were singing along, she makes you feel like your part of the show.

If that wasn’t enough we met her a few blocks away at the Virgin Mega-store. She was so gracious to everyone and particularly with my 8 year old grand-daughter, touching her hair and telling her how much she loved it. It’s no wonder we all love Faith, she is so down to earth and her beauty is inside as well as out.

I will never forget this experience, it has changed my daughters feelings for Faith as well as my grand-daughters and the friends I brought.

Hugs to Kirsten from all of us.
